3. THE USER

With my research themes, design principles, and target audience now defined, it is time to meet the user, discover their journey and empathize with their needs.

3.2. USER JOURNEY

This user journey follows the paths of Brady, Tia, and Megan as they find AR post through the app, and connect with people in their networks. 

3.3. USER NEEDS

User Needs

The User... 

  • Wants to create a post in order to connect with someone in their network
     

  • Expects to react to something they see to give feedback to the person who posted
     

  • Wants to communicate with the person who posted to give a personalized response
     

  • Needs to find the location of the post in order to connect with others
     

  • Expects other's will find their posts in order to connect with others
     

  • Expects to notify their network if they've created a post
     

  • Wants to save an AR file to post later in order to have more control over their social media presence
     

  • Wants to post an AR file they created prior to arriving at the location so that they can post AR that took advanced planning and time
     

  • Needs to move AR on the screen so that they can position the post where they choose
     

  • Expects to view posts in their area so that they can connect to people in their network who have been to the same area
     

  • Expects to allow people into their network so that they can have control over who sees their content
     

  • Expects to request access to view the content of people of their interest in order to receive content/connection that is meaningful to them. 
     

  • Wants to delete content they posted so that they can curate their presence
     

  • Wants to send a "direct message" or AR to someone in their network so that they can have private communication with people in their network
     

  • Expects to have location privacy so that they are/feel safe
     

  • Wants to be in a group with people of the same goals or interests so that they can 

3.4. FEATURE PRIORITIZATION

Feature Prioritization

In order to address the user needs the app must include features to allow the user to communicate and engage with their network with AR. Bellow the features are categorized in order of priority for a minimum viable product.

  • Method of creating a post

    • drawing pad/screen

    • keyboard

  • Upload Content​

  • A map/geographic navigation system to direct user to posts

  • Camera operation to search for posts in the physical environment

  • Ability to position AR using the screen and camera

  • User location privacy

Should Have​
  • A map showing posts in the vicinity 

  • Delete content ability

  • User authority to grant access to their posts and content

  • "Reactions" to posts (👍)

  • The comment section on posts

  • Private messaging (placing AR for specified users in-network)

  • Content Library (to organize AR files for future uploading)

Could Have
  • Public and Private​

  • Download AR files you find and add them to your library

  • Suggestions of whom to follow

  • User group, people can share within a specified group

Should Not Have​
  • Pictures or videos in a news feed

  • Open access to the comment section of posts you have not viewed

  • Status updates
